Bauxite, also known as high alumina bauxite, has an alumina content of more than 50%, sometimes as high as 90%. The main minerals are monohydrate, kaolin, etc.

The beneficiation and purification of bauxite adopt gravity separation, flotation, and magnetic separation methods. In bauxite, iron containing impurities such as mica and iron oxide often affect the refractory performance and must be reduced.

Fire resistance is the property of the refractory material bauxite that can resist high temperatures during use without melting. Fire resistance is one of the important indicators for evaluating the quality of refractory materials. If the fire resistance is not high, during use, due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures, all masonry will be damaged due to the melting of refractory materials. The operating temperature of general industrial kilns should not be higher than the refractory material used in the furnace body.

The fire resistance of bauxite is measured using a specialized temperature measuring cone. Grind the raw materials or products to a certain particle size and then mix them with dextrin to make conical bodies with a certain specification. Place these cones on a refractory material chassis and heat them at a certain heating rate (4-6 degrees per minute at high temperatures). Due to the action of high temperature, the cone gradually melts and bends. When it bends to the top and comes into contact with the chassis, the temperature is the fire resistance of bauxite.
