What Is Brown Fused Alumina?

▸ Brown Fused Alumina is produced by melting calcined bauxite, carbon material and iron filings in an electric arc furnace, followed by crushing, magnetic separation, screening and particle size classification.

▸ The material combines high hardness with good toughness, making it suitable for applications that require aggressive cutting, stable wear resistance and reliable grain strength.

▸ SEPPE supplies macro grits, micro grits and powder grades according to abrasive, blasting, refractory and surface preparation requirements.

Key Performance Characteristics

High Hardness: Mohs hardness around 9 provides strong cutting ability for grinding, blasting and surface preparation applications.

Good Toughness: Brown fused alumina grains resist premature breakage and support stable abrasive performance under mechanical impact.

Stable Chemistry: High alumina content and controlled Fe₂O₃, SiO₂ and TiO₂ levels help support consistent abrasive and refractory performance.

Wide Particle Size Range: F grits, P grits and W micro powder grades are available for bonded abrasives, coated abrasives, blasting, polishing and lapping.

Heat Resistance: Fused alumina structure supports refractory raw material use and high-temperature industrial applications.
