Introduction
Brown Fused Alumina (BFA), also known as Brown Aluminum Oxide, is produced through an electric arc furnace smelting process. It is a hard (Mohs hardness 9) and tough material with high thermal stability, low iron content, and excellent resistance to high temperature corrosion. These properties make BFA an ideal raw material for refractory applications, including high-alumina shaped and monolithic refractories, investment casting shells, kiln furniture, and furnace linings. While BFA is also used in abrasives, this grade is specifically optimized for the refractory industry.

Application scenarios:Refractory & Foundry
In the refractory industry, BFA is essential for manufacturing high-alumina products that require excellent thermal shock resistance, high load softening point, and low creep.
Shaped refractories: high-alumina bricks, kiln furniture
Monolithic refractories: castables, plastics, ramming mixes, gunning materials
Investment casting shells: provides a smooth surface finish and improved shell strength
Foundry applications: as a sand additive to enhance refractorines
