Introduction
Brown Fused Alumina (BFA), also known as Brown Aluminum Oxide, is produced through an electric arc furnace smelting process. It combines high hardness (Mohs 9) with exceptional toughness and controlled particle shape, making it an ideal grain specifically for coated abrasive products such as sandpaper, abrasive belts, discs, rolls, and flap wheels. Its narrow grit size distribution ensures consistent surface finish, while excellent adhesion with resin and glue bonds delivers long service life. BFA is also used in bonded abrasives, blasting media, and refractories, but this grade is optimized for coated applications.

Application scenarios:Coated Abrasives
Brown Fused Alumina is the most widely used grain in coated abrasives due to its self-sharpening properties, high wear resistance, and consistent cut.
Sandpaper (resin bond / glue bond) – sheets, rolls, discs
Abrasive belts – for metal, wood, and surface finishing
Abrasive discs – fiber discs, flap discs
Flap wheels & rolls – for deburring and blending
Micro-abrasive films – precision lapping
Bonded abrasives (grinding wheels, cut-off wheels)
Blasting media (shot blasting, surface preparation)
