Introduction

SEPPE Cenosphere is a lightweight, inert, hollow sphere filled with inert air or gas, typically produced as a byproduct of coal combustion at thermal power plants. The color of cenospheres varies from gray to almost white and their density is about 0.4-0.8 g/cm3, which gives them a great buoyancy. Flows like a liquid, with the appearance of a powder. Provides lightweight bulk to a varied and expansive range of compounds. Cenospheres are hard and rigid, light, waterproof, innoxious, and insulative. This makes them highly useful in a variety of products, notably fillers. 


Application

1. Refractory material: Cenospheres are widely used in the production of lightweight castables and petroleum drilling due to its high refractory degree (generally 1600-1700) and excellent insulation performance.


2. Coatings and paints: Then chemical composition of Cenospheres is mainly SiO2 and Al2O3, making them important raw materials in the coatings and paint industry. Its spherical structure helps to reduce VOC content and increase solid content.


3. Cenospheres are now used as fillers in cement to produce low-density concrete. Its spherical shape and structure features improve the fluidity of materials and distribution in a form when filling volume. It is excellent insulating material for buildings, constructions, and pipelines.


4. Some manufacturers have begun filling metals and polymers with cenospheres to make lightweight composite materials with higher strength than other types of foam materials.



5. Another use is in conductive paints for antistatic coatings and electromagnetic shielding.
