What Is Shaft Calcined Bauxite?

▸ Shaft calcined bauxite is produced by calcining high-grade raw bauxite in a vertical shaft kiln at temperatures around 1500-1600°C. This process removes moisture and impurities, resulting in a dense, hard material with high alumina content. It is a cost-effective choice widely used as a refractory aggregate, abrasive media, and in ceramic formulations.

Why Choose SEPPE Shaft Kiln Calcination

▸ The shaft kiln method offers distinct advantages for cost-sensitive refractory applications:

  • Cost-Effective Production — shaft kilns operate with lower energy consumption and higher throughput, making this grade an economical choice for standard refractory applications.

  • Reliable Performance — SEPPE's strict quality control ensures consistent calcination and stable chemistry, providing dependable service in medium-duty refractory linings.

  • Good Density — achieves bulk density ≥2.90 g/cm³, suitable for general purpose castables, backup linings, and abrasive media.

  • Wide Availability — produced in large volumes with stable supply, ideal for long-term bulk contracts.

Quality Control & Laboratory Testing

▸ XRF Chemical Analysis — every batch tested for Al₂O₃, Fe₂O₃, TiO₂, CaO, MgO content

▸ Bulk Density Measurement — pycnometer method to verify ≥3.20 g/cm³

FAQ

❓ What is shaft calcined bauxite used for?

▸ It is primarily used in general purpose refractory bricks, castables, backup linings, and abrasive applications where a cost-effective solution is preferred.

❓ What is the difference between shaft kiln and rotary kiln bauxite?

▸ Shaft kiln bauxite offers a lower cost option with slightly lower density (≥2.90 g/cm³) and may have minor temperature gradients. Rotary kiln bauxite achieves higher density (≥3.10 g/cm³) and more uniform calcination. Choose shaft kiln for standard applications, rotary kiln for demanding environments.

❓ Can you customize the Al₂O₃ content?

▸ Yes. In addition to our standard 85% grade, we can supply 75%, 80%, 87%, and 88% Al₂O₃ material depending on your application requirements and volume.

❓ What particle sizes are available?

▸ Standard sizes: 0-1mm, 1-3mm, 3-5mm, 5-8mm, 25-50mm. Custom sizing can be arranged upon request.

❓ Can you supply long-term bulk orders?

▸ Absolutely. With integrated mining and processing, we maintain stable inventory levels and can support annual supply contracts with consistent quality and on-time delivery.

❓ Do you provide samples and technical documents?

▸ Yes. We offer free samples for lab evaluation, along with TDS (Technical Data Sheet), SDS (Safety Data Sheet), and SGS test reports upon request.
