What Is White Fused Alumina?

White Fused Alumina is produced by melting high-purity alumina in an electric arc furnace, followed by cooling, crystallization, crushing, magnetic separation, screening and particle size classification.

Compared with brown fused alumina, white fused alumina has higher purity, lower iron content and a cleaner white appearance, making it suitable for abrasive applications where surface cleanliness and controlled finishing are important.

SEPPE supplies macro grits, micro powder, aggregate sizes and customized particle size grades according to final application and purchase requirements.

Key Performance Characteristics

High Purity: Typical Al2O3 content is around 99.3%-99.5%, supporting clean abrasive performance and stable quality.

High Hardness: Mohs hardness around 9 provides sharp cutting ability for grinding, blasting, polishing and surface preparation.

Low Iron White Abrasive: White appearance and controlled Fe2O3 content help reduce contamination risk in precision finishing and decorative surface treatment.

Stable Chemistry: Controlled SiO2, Na2O and Fe2O3 levels help support consistent abrasive performance from batch to batch.

Wide Particle Size Range: F8-F220 / F280-F2000 are available, with other particle sizes supplied upon request.
