Introduction
Brown Fused Alumina (BFA), also known as Brown Aluminum Oxide, is produced by the reduction smelting of high-quality bauxite, carbon materials, and iron filings in an electric arc furnace. This process yields a tough, hard (Mohs hardness 9), and durable synthetic corundum.
Due to its excellent combination of hardness and toughness, BFA is the most widely used basic abrasive grain. It is extensively used in grinding wheels, sandpaper, and blasting media. Furthermore, its high temperature resistance and chemical stability make it a vital raw material in the refractory industry, as well as in precision casting shells, chemical additives, and anti-slip floor aggregates.
