Introduction


Brown Fused Alumina (BFA), also known as Brown Aluminum Oxide, is produced through an electric arc furnace smelting process. It combines high hardness (Mohs 9) with exceptional toughness and angular particle shape. These properties make BFA an ideal anti-skid aggregate for surface coatings, pavements, industrial floors, and high-friction overlays. Its excellent wear resistance and chemical stability also suit other industrial applications, but this grade is specifically engineered for anti-skid surfacing.

Application scenarios：Anti-skid Surfacing


Thanks to its high hardness (Mohs 9), high compressive strength, and excellent wear resistance,BFA can be used in:


Wear-resistant Flooring / Aggregate

  • Industrial plants, warehouses, highways, airport runways, docks – as a heavy-duty aggregate for impact-resistant and anti-abrasion floors.


Friction Materials

  • Automotive brake pads and clutch facings – as a filler to improve high-temperature resistance and friction stability.


Wear-resistant Coatings

  • Mixed with resins or ceramics for fan impellers, pipelines, and pump bodies – providing anti-abrasion and anti-corrosion protection.

Recommended Grain Size


  • Coarse (F12–F24) for high-speed roads and runways

  • Medium (F30–F60) for factory floors and parking areas

  • Fine (F70–F120) for pedestrian walkways and pool decks

  • Powder (100–325 mesh) for anti-skid paints
