SEPPE Crystal Glass Filter Media is a high-efficiency recycled glass filtration media for swimming pool filtration, industrial water treatment, cooling tower side-stream filtration and wastewater tertiary treatment. It is designed as a cleaner and longer-life alternative to quartz sand, helping improve filtration precision, reduce backwash water consumption and support stable operation in existing sand filter systems.
Product: Crystal glass filter media for pool filtration, industrial water treatment and sand filter replacement
Model: 1#-4# / 0.25-4.0 mm
Other Names: Glass Filter Media, Crystal Glass Filter Media, Recycled Glass Filter Media, Glass Sand Filter Media
Material Type: Soda-lime glass spherical media
• Crystal glass filter media is produced from selected green or brown glass, then processed, activated and classified into controlled granular grades for water filtration systems.
• The engineered glass surface provides a large active filtration area and helps capture fine suspended solids, organic matter and selected charged particles such as heavy metal ions.
• It can replace quartz sand in many existing sand filters without major equipment modification, making it suitable for pool filtration, industrial circulating water, cooling tower side-stream filtration and wastewater polishing.
• High Filtration Efficiency: Fine particle interception can exceed traditional quartz sand in suitable filter designs, supporting clearer water output.
• Quartz Sand Replacement: Can be used to replace quartz sand in many sand filter vessels without rebuilding the existing filtration system.
• Reduced Backwash Water: Open particle structure and lower clogging tendency can reduce backwash water consumption and improve operating efficiency.
• Anti-biofouling Surface: The glass surface is less likely to provide growth conditions for biofilm compared with some traditional filter media.
• Long Service Life: Hard glass particles provide stable mechanical performance and a long service life under normal filtration and backwash conditions.
| Filter Media | Minimum Particle Size at 90% Removal |
|---|---|
| No. 0 Glass Filter Media | 1 μm |
| No. 1 Glass Filter Media | 4 μm |
| New Quartz Sand | 10.5 μm |
| EGFM Filter Media | 22 μm |
| Garo Filter Media | 30 μm |
| Astral Filter Media | 39 μm |
| Biomar Filter Media | 40 μm |
Reference condition: filtration velocity 20 m/h. Smaller value means finer particle interception under the same 90% removal rate. No. 0 grade removes more than 90% of 1 μm particles; No. 1 grade removes more than 90% of 4 μm particles; quartz sand comparison value is 10.5 μm.
| Application Need | Recommended Grade | Typical Result |
|---|---|---|
| Pool filtration and sand filter replacement | Fine to medium filter media grades | Clearer water, lower clogging risk and practical backwash performance |
| Industrial circulating water | Project-matched multi-layer grades | Stable filtration with balanced flow rate and pressure drop |
| Wastewater tertiary polishing | Fine filtration grade by target turbidity | Improved suspended solids removal before discharge or reuse |
| Cooling tower side-stream filtration | System-matched filter media grade | Reduced suspended solids and better circulating water control |
