Introduction
Steel shot and steel grit are abrasives used for metal surface treatment and strengthening. They are usually made from high-strength steel wire through processes such as melting, quenching, crushing, and screening. The material is usually high carbon steel or alloy steel.

S170 | S230 | S280 | S330 | S390 | S460 |
Chemical Composition | |||||
C | Si | Mn | P | S | / |
0.7-1.2 | ≥0.4 | 0.35-1.2 | ≤0.05 | ≤0.05 | / |
Hardness | Denisty | External Form | |||
HRC40-46 | ≥7.4g/cm3 | EXCELLENT |
The main applications of steel shot:
1. Shot peening: This is the most essential application of steel shot. By bombarding metal parts such as automotive springs, gears, crankshafts, and aircraft engine blades, a layer of stress is formed on their surface, significantly improving the fatigue strength and stress corrosion resistance of the parts.
2. Surface cleaning: used to remove molding sand, oxide scale on the surface of castings and forgings, as well as welding slag on welded parts. The surface is relatively smooth after treatment.
3. Surface finishing: used to remove burrs and obtain a matte or uniform surface appearance.
