Introduction
White Fused Alumina (WFA), also known as White Corundum, is an electro‑fused artificial corundum produced from high‑purity Bayer‑processed alumina in an electric arc furnace at over 2,000°C. It is white in color, dense in structure, and consists mainly of large alpha‑alumina crystals.
Thanks to its high purity (≥99% Al₂O₃), high hardness (Mohs 9), excellent thermal stability, and chemical inertness, White Aluminum is an ideal material for precision (investment) casting. In this application, it serves two critical roles:
As a refractory material – used to build ceramic shells that withstand molten metal at high temperatures, ensuring casting accuracy and smooth surface finish.
As an abrasive material – used for post‑casting finishing, including grinding, lapping, and polishing of cast parts to achieve precise dimensions and surface quality.
White Aluminum is also widely used in general refractory and abrasive industries, but this grade is optimized for precision casting.

Application scenarios
