High PSV calcined bauxite engineered for anti-skid and high friction road surfacing applications worldwide.
▸ High PSV calcined bauxite is a premium refractory-grade aggregate produced by calcining selected raw bauxite at temperatures above 1600°C. Its exceptional Polished Stone Value (PSV ≥70) and high resistance to abrasion make it the material of choice for high friction surfacing (HFS) on highways, bridge decks, airport runways, and other critical traffic areas.
▸ The angular particle shape and extreme hardness ensure long-lasting skid resistance, even under heavy traffic loads and harsh weather conditions.
▸ Widely specified by highway authorities and used in high friction surfacing systems across Europe, North America, and Asia, it significantly improves road safety and reduces accident rates.
▸ Selected raw bauxite → High-temperature calcination (≥1600°C) → Crushing → Precision screening → Final inspection & packaging
▸ From bauxite ore to finished sand, every stage is controlled to ensure consistent quality:
01 — Raw Material & Supply · Own mines, Al₂O₃ ≥ 65%
02 — Calcination Process · Rotary kiln at 1450–1550°C
03 — Processing & Grading · Crushing, screening & magnetic separation
04 — Testing & Delivery · Full lab testing & global packaging
▸ Our high PSV calcined bauxite delivers critical performance advantages for high friction surfacing:
▸Exceptional Skid Resistance — polished stone value (PSV) of 70 minimum provides long-lasting anti-skid performance, far exceeding conventional aggregates.
▸Low Aggregate Abrasion Value — AAV of 10 maximum ensures minimal wear under heavy traffic, maintaining surface friction for years.
▸High Hardness (7.5-9.0 Mohs) — angular grains resist polishing and retain micro-texture even under sustained traffic.
▸Proven Worldwide — specified by highway authorities and used in high friction surfacing systems across Europe, North America, and Asia.
▸ XRF Chemical Analysis — every batch tested for Al₂O₃, Fe₂O₃, TiO₂, CaO, MgO content
▸ PSV Testing — polished stone value tested in accordance with BS EN 1097-8 standards
▸ AAV Testing — aggregate abrasion value per BS EN 1097-8 to ensure maximum wear resistance
▸ Particle Size Distribution — sieve analysis for accurate 0-1mm, 1-3mm, and 3-5mm grading
▸ Batch Traceability — full documentation from raw ore to final shipment
▸ High PSV 70+ — consistently exceeds the minimum requirement for high friction surfacing specifications worldwide.
▸ Low AAV 10 Max — exceptional abrasion resistance ensures long service life under heavy traffic conditions.
▸ Angular Particle Shape — provides excellent mechanical interlock with resin binders for durable surface systems.
▸ Proven Performance — trusted by highway authorities and contractors for critical safety applications globally.
▸ Consistent Quality — batch-to-batch uniformity ensures predictable application results and reliable friction performance.
▸ Highway anti-skid surfaces and high friction treatments
▸ Bridge deck waterproofing and surfacing systems
▸ Airport runways and taxiways
▸ Pedestrian crossings and cycle lanes
▸ Industrial flooring and loading bays

SEPPE implements a rigorous 7-stage quality control system across the entire production chain, from bauxite ore selection to final packaging. Our integrated approach ensures every shipment of calcined bauxite meets the strictest standards for chemical composition, physical properties, and batch-to-batch consistency.
Incoming ore tested for Al₂O₃, Fe₂O₃, and TiO₂ content before processing. Only high-grade raw bauxite meeting minimum 85% Al₂O₃ potential is accepted into production.
Raw bauxite homogenized and blended to stabilize chemical composition before calcination, eliminating composition fluctuations that cause batch inconsistencies.
Continuous temperature monitoring at ~1600°C ensures uniform heat distribution. Tumbling action inside rotary kiln guarantees complete phase conversion to stable corundum and mullite.
Multi-stage magnetic separation removes iron contamination from crushing equipment. Iron (Fe₂O₃) content verified to ≤2.0% for premium refractory-grade material.
Every batch tested via X-ray fluorescence for Al₂O₃ (≥85%), Fe₂O₃ (≤2.0%), TiO₂ (≤4.0%), CaO (≤0.5%), and MgO (≤0.5%). Full chemical certificate provided with each shipment.
Bulk density (≥3.10 g/cm³), water absorption (≤2.5%), and refractoriness (≥1770°C) verified for every production batch. Particle size distribution tested via laser diffraction and sieve analysis.
Full documentation from raw ore source to shipping container. Each batch assigned a unique lot number for complete traceability. Pre-shipment inspection confirms grade, quantity, and packaging integrity.
▸ 100% batch traceability from bauxite ore source to final delivery
