In our previous article, Rainy Season Export Tips for SEPPE River Garnet Abrasive, we discussed how moisture can affect garnet abrasive during rainy-season shipping.
The same risk also applies to other industrial mineral products. During rainy-season export, products are not only affected by direct rain. High humidity, wet loading, container condensation, damaged packaging, and long outdoor storage after arrival can all cause problems.
Different products show different problems after moisture exposure:
● Brown fused alumina, white fused alumina, and calcined bauxite: local caking, poor hopper flow, and unstable dosing may occur; fine grains and powders are usually more sensitive.
● Steel shot and steel grit: if packaging becomes wet during long ocean transport, corrosion may appear and affect appearance, blasting stability, and surface preparation quality.
● Cenospheres and garnet abrasive: flowability is usually affected first, which may lead to clogged blast hoses, interrupted waterjet feed, unstable material feeding, or unplanned downtime on site.
Products should be stored in a dry warehouse before packing and loading. If the product or packaging has already absorbed moisture before shipment, sea transport may make the problem worse.
Buyers can ask whether the goods were stored indoors and whether pre-loading packaging photos are available.
Packaging should match the product type, particle size, destination, and handling method.
Common options include 25kg bags, 1000kg jumbo bags, inner liner protection, and palletized loading. Fine powders, lightweight materials, and moisture-sensitive products usually need stronger packaging control.
Buyers can ask what packaging will be used and whether inner liners or palletized loading are recommended.
Before loading, the container should be clean, dry, odor-free, and without water marks, wet floors, holes, or damaged panels.
Container condensation is often a hidden risk during rainy-season export. A container may be loaded during hot daytime conditions and then cool down at night. Moisture inside the container can form water drops on the roof and drip onto the top layer of cargo. The packaging may still look normal from outside, but the product inside may lose flowability, form lumps, or feed unevenly.
During rainy or humid weather, loading should avoid direct rain and long open-door waiting time. After loading, the container should be sealed as soon as possible.
If humidity is high or the shipping time is long, buyers can also confirm whether extra top protection or container desiccants are needed.
Moisture control does not end at the port. If the container stays outdoors for too long after arrival, moisture risk may continue.
Customers should arrange customs clearance and pickup as soon as possible. After unloading, products should be moved into a dry warehouse.
SEPPE supplies industrial minerals and blasting materials, including brown fused alumina, white fused alumina, steel shot, steel grit, calcined bauxite, cenospheres, and garnet abrasive.
For rainy-season export orders, SEPPE checks warehouse storage, packaging condition, container condition, loading process, and export documents. Packaging can be arranged according to product type, particle size, order quantity, destination port, and customer handling method.
If required, SEPPE can provide loading photos, packaging photos, TDS, MSDS, and COA for customer confirmation.
